Christmas Campaign 2021

Happy New Year from the Students for Amani team!

For this Christmas we wanted to organise something special, so we worked very hard to put together a few weeks filled with events. As usual a special thank you to our supporters who are making this possible and are helping us to make an impact!

Inner City Library Charity Bakesale

On 18 November 2021, we organised a charity bakesale at the Inner-City Library in Maastricht. This was a special occasion as it was the first event we organised to raise money for our second project in Romania. Click here to read more about our new project.

We had a lot of fun baking for you, and we really hope you enjoyed all our sweet treats and had a go at our Waffle Station. Our professional waffle maker Philip took a lot of pride in it

Christmas Bakesale at Dominicanen Bookstore, Maastricht

Since we missed bakesales so much, we decided to organise another event on 9 December to kick off the Christmas Season! Given the special occasion, we opted for the iconic Dominicanen Bookshop in Maastricht a huge thank you to the staff for making it possible!

Originally built over 700 years ago, this ancient church now houses one of the most famous bookstores in Europe. It was a pleasure to discuss charitable projects among the arches and the naves of such an evocative place.

To stay in the Christmas theme our co-chair Anisa, prepared a whole lot of Christmas cookies and she decided to share with us her family’s recipe for some delicious Apple Blondies:

Ingredients

  • Butter 125 g

  • Honey 50 g

  • One apple

  • Walnuts 75 g

  • Flour 150g

  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon

  • Oatmeal 150 g

  • Cane sugar 150 g

  • Raisins 75 g

Process

1. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C, melt butter and honey in a saucepan on medium heat for approx. 3 minutes and allow to cool.

2. Peel and quarter the apple, remove the core and seeds and grate coarsely. Roughly chop the walnuts.

3. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, oatmeal, sugar, salt and raisins together. Briefly stir in walnuts, apple and butter mixture until the dough thickens.

4. Spread the dough with two teaspoons into small heaps on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in the oven for approximately 12 minutes until golden brown. Let the spelt apple biscuits cool down and keep them airtight.

Chrismas Activity Book

To thank all our donors for the continuous support offered, we decided to send to every donation a Christmas booklet filled with games, recipes, pictures and DIY activities to do during Christmas. This year we received a special contribution from @habeichselbstgemacht, @vikiilicious and @lieblings_gerichte. Follow them on Instagram!

Here is a sneak peek of our activity book if you missed it.
